Inside The Couples Foundation Session

Three movements. One outcome you can take home.

We open with a structured exercise that surfaces what each of you assumes the other knows, owns, or has decided. Most couples discover the gap is wider than they thought – not because anything is wrong, but because nobody ever asked.

We walk through the four domains every household is making decisions about whether they realise it or not: insurance, banking, investments, and estate planning. For each one, we identify the decision currently being made – by one of you, by both of you, or by default – and we name what changes if you start making it together.

We close with one concrete commitment per couple: one conversation you’ll have at home this month, one document you’ll find together, one decision you’ll make in the next ninety days. Small enough to actually do. Big enough to matter.

You leave with a written summary of your own session – yours to keep, no one else sees it.

Who this is for

The most useful version of this conversation is the one you have before you need it.

Couples where…
one of you handles the finances and the other doesn’t, and you both quietly suspect that needs to change.
Couples planning…
a major life transition – a new business, a property purchase, a parent moving in, a child’s education abroad – and wanting to think it through together.
Couples who’ve…
been married long enough that “we’ve always done it this way” has stopped being a reason and started being a problem.
Couples who…
have never had a fight about money – which sometimes means you’ve never had the conversation either.

When I tell people about this session, the first reaction is almost always nervous laughter – and then, within a minute, “actually, we should probably do that.”

The nervousness is the point. The conversation we’re inviting you into is the one most couples have been deferring for years, sometimes decades. It is structured precisely because structure is what makes it feel safe to start.

You will not leave this room having solved every financial question in your relationship. You will leave it having had the conversation, together, for the first time. Everything that comes after that is easier.

I’d be honoured to host you both.

FAQs

  1. Do we both need to attend?
Yes. The session only works if both of you are in the room. If your partner can’t make this date, please book a future session rather than coming alone – the format is designed around the two of you being present together.
  2. What if we’re already aligned on money?
Most couples who think they’re aligned discover, in the first exercise, that the alignment is on the outcomes rather than the assumptions. The session is still useful – and arguably more useful, because you’ll be building on solid ground rather than untangling crossed wires.
  3. Is this culturally appropriate for our background?
The session is designed to work across the cultural mix of couples living in the UAE – Emirati, Gulf, South Asian, Western expat, and beyond. The structure adapts to whatever each couple brings into the room. Nothing is assumed about how your household should make decisions.
  4. What happens after the session?
You leave with a written summary of your own session and one concrete commitment. We send a single follow-up message thirty days later asking whether you kept the commitment – that’s it. No upsell, no products, no list you have to unsubscribe from.
  5. Can we attend with friends?
Yes – and many couples do. Several of our strongest sessions have included two or three couples who came together. Just book individually so each couple gets their own confirmation and registration.
  6. Is this confidential?
Absolutely. Nothing said in the room leaves the room. Your written summary is yours alone – we keep no copy. Anonymised patterns may inform our research and future curriculum design, but never anything attributable.
